RE-ENERGISING BRIDGWATER

Final three projects for Bridgwater Town Deal

Following a recent Sedgemoor District Council Executive meeting, the final three business cases within the Bridgwater Town Deal have been submitted to government.  We await to hear the outcome in March, 2023.

The final three business cases were

  1. Bridgwater Docks Regeneration – £4.2 million.  The project will concentrate on the dilapidated areas of the heritage site in order to see the site become partly operational.
  • Cycling and Walking Links – £1million.  The funding will contribute to Walking & Cycling scheme improvements in Bridgwater
  • Protecting the Future of Bridgwater Carnival – £3million.  This is a phased project for the long-term redevelopment of the existing Carnival sheds site, off the A38 Bristol Road in Bridgwater.  New and improved workshops will encourage greater community participation and involvement in the creation of Carnival. The project will be delivered by Bridgwater Guy Fawkes Carnival, a registered charity and limited liability company incorporated in August 1989, with continuing technical support from Sedgemoor District Council, transitioning to the new Somerset Council from April 2023.
